Marshalltown, Iowa has the third largest Veteran's Home in the United States. It was built in 1887 for the Civil War veteran. Mr. Fox was the first resident in 1887. The first woman was Mary Worthington in 1889. Today the home has 750 veterans.

The Army of the Southwest is a group of civil war reenactors of the year 1861 to 1865. In 2007 the Army of the Southwest had the honor of presenting a Civil War reenactment for the Marshalltown veteran. The Army of the Southwest would like to honor the resident veterans with a second annual civil war reenactment in 2008. Click here for the tentative program. Check back on this site for new information.
